A School Building Rises

We are thrilled to share that we have now completed more than 60% of the construction on the new middle grades facility at Impact Academy in Hayward. We recently enjoyed two exciting Crane Days, where we lifted the buildings off of trucks and into place on their foundations.  It was awesome to behold!

The excitement was contagious: Our 7th graders watched the action from their math class and then estimated the height of the crane using the Pythagorean theorem. They later interviewed the site superintendent and compared their estimates to the actual height (120 feet!).

The construction has inspired more classroom projects as well.  Students will be designing and building a seating area using the old Monterey Pines that were removed from the property.  What an awesome way to reduce waste and incorporate existing materials into our new space – all while engaging students in the process.

We are on track to open on time in early August and look forward to welcoming the new 7th graders, rising 8th graders, and middle grades staff to their new classrooms.  Our new home is almost ready!
