PRINCIPAL’S WELCOME
Phillip Chardon
I believe it is a political act to provide the best possible education with the highest expectations to all students. I have fulfilled this mission as a history teacher in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, and currently work as the Vice-Principal of Student Support at CAT. I grew up in the Bay Area and attended UC Santa Barbara where I received a degree in History and a Masters in Education. I have since completed a second Masters in Education Leadership. In my personal life, I enjoy politics, graffiti art, photography and traveling. I married my college sweetheart, and we have a beautiful 4 year-old daughter . We currently reside in San Francisco, CA.
One thing that I’m proud of in my work at CAT is leading two clubs, the Young Men of Distinction, a club aimed at supporting young men in leadership and development, and the Muslim Student Association, a club for students interested in the rich culture of Islam.

Dear CAT Students and Families,
As I enter my sixth year at CAT, I am excited to return in the role of Principal for the next school year! Each day, I hope to provide an educational experience that helps to uplift our students, families, and community. Our small CAT community is like a family, where we are all working together to benefit our kids. At CAT, we want all students to be known, loved, and challenged in each and every class.
Our mission is to transform our students lives by preparing them for college, career, and life. Beyond giving students an excellent experience in school, we want to ensure that they are ready for a four-year university. For this reason, every day of school and every period counts. It is of the utmost importance that students attend school every day and come to school on time, before 8:30. Once in school, administrators and teachers will keep students to a high standard at all times.
One thing that you will notice this year is that the bell schedule has changed, and that students have longer periods on Wednesday and Thursday. This is to help prepare students for the courses that they will take in college.
Please also note the calendar and the days that students do not have classes. Please plan vacations, trips, and family activities around this calendar as much as possible. With the exception of doctor-approved absences, students will not be excused for final exams.
We take our mission of preparing students for college, career, and life seriously and we want to see every one of our students successful in their endeavors after high school. When we work together as a community, we ensure the success of our kids. Our staff look forward to working closely with families and students to achieve the best outcomes possible. Our doors are always open to our community members and I welcome all family members and students to reach out to CAT with any concerns that you have or any support that you need.
