Always Curious, Constantly Challenging Himself

Felipe Delgado is Impact Academy’s 2021 recipient of the Bob Lenz “PDO” Scholarship.

Felipe’s advisor Mr. Cho shared that: “Felipe truly understands what it means to be a Spartan. Felipe has a strong ability to lead and work with others. He is constantly challenging himself in the school environment because he knows that comfort can lead to stagnation. He asks great questions and is always curious. As a person, Felipe is thoughtful, caring, friendly, and respectful. During conversations with other students, Felipe always hears their perspectives and acknowledges them. He truly cares about other people, even strangers, and is always humble.”  Next year, Felipe will continue to inspire those around him at UC Berkeley!

ABOUT THE BOB LENZ “PDO” SCHOLARSHIP

The Bob Lenz PDO Scholarship award of $1000 is given each year to one graduating senior from each school site who exemplifies the Calvin Coolidge phrase: “Persistence and Determination alone are Omnipotent (PDO).” Erin Brockovich made these words her motto in her successful campaign to expose toxic water tables in the Central Valley. Bob and his Envision co-founders adopted the motto as well, applying it to Envision’s tireless work to help students develop the persistence and determination to succeed in college. Each of our award-winning students:

• Has gone through significant hardship and persisted through adversity;
• Has been accepted to and plans to attend a 4-year university or college.
