ABC NEWS REPORTS FROM THE HALLS OF ENVISION SCHOOLS!
Passionate about this year's election? Envision Schools' students are too! They may not be old enough to vote, but they are very informed!
On the eve before election day, ABC aired a two-minute spot focusing on our Voter Information project, in which students produced multi-media campaign ads for or against presidential candidates and California's state propositions. ABC news reporter, Lyanne Melendez, reports from the halls of Metropolitan Arts & Technology High School, one of our San Francisco schools.
See for yourself how Metro rocked the vote! The Problem
7,000 students drop out of high school every day.
A high school dropout is four times as likely to be unemployed, and if they are employed, they'll earn 88% less than a college graduate.
A solid high school education can be the great equalizer.
Our Solution
At Envision Schools,we transform the lives of our students—especially those who will be the first in their families to attend college—by preparing them for success in college and in life. Our schools are true communities marked by intentional diversity, rigorous academic discipline, and excellence at every level, where compassion and high expectations inspire and empower our students. As such, Envision Schools is a model for public high schools everywhere. This is our mission.
Who We Are
Envision Schools was founded in June 2002 as a 501(c)(3) charter school management organization to bring high quality college preparatory education to communities with the greatest need, with the goal of sending all the organization's students to college. Envision Schools targets underserved urban youth, particularly those who are first in their families to attend college, in communities of color and neighborhoods served by underperforming public schools. Each Envision School is academically rigorous and integrates art and technology across the curriculum to instill the critical thinking and creative skills necessary for students to be successful in college and beyond. Today, Envision Schools operates four schools in the Bay Area – two in San Francisco, one in Oakland, and one in Hayward.
